Dr. J. Ricardo Loret de Mola is a board certified Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility specialist who has been performing daVinci Robotic surgeries to preserve and restore fertility since 2007. His patients have benefited from major operations for tubal reversals, endometriosis, uterine fibroids and congenital anomalies of the uterus with a short recovery and less pain than traditional procedures and operations.
Dr. Loret de Mola completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH in 1994 and his sub-specialty training at the University of Pennsylvania, in Philadelphia PA in 1996 and currently serves as the Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine and Director of the SIU Fertility and IVF Center.
Dr. Erica E. Nelson has performed minimally invasive gynecologic procedures since 1995 and was certified in da Vinci robotic procedures in 2006. Performing these procedures is rewarding. Her patients recover rapidly; returning to their active lifestyles, caring for their families and getting back to work quickly.
Dr. Nelson completed her residency at Oregon Health Sciences University after finishing medical school at University of Vermont. She is currently the Director of the Generalist Division as well as an Associate Professor and Residency Program Director. Dr. Nelson has been with SIU Healthcare since 1998.
Dr. Sohail Siddique is a fellowship-trained reconstructive pelvic surgeon. The robotic platform was developed by the military at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland where Dr Siddique obtained his robotic training in 2007.
He currently specializes in pelvic organ prolapse, urinary and fecal incontinence, fistula repair and complex gynecologic surgery including robotic sacral colpopexy for vaginal prolapse and robotic surgery for prolapse with uterine preservation. Dr. Siddique feels that the future of urogynecologic surgery is in minimally invasive repair. It is important to use this technology to maximize patient benefits. He uses the da Vinci system because he sees that clinically, patient outcomes are equal to open surgery but with a quicker recovery post-operatively allowing his patients to get back to their normal activities. Dr. Siddique completed residency at Naval Medical Center San Diego and completed fellowship in Urogynecology at Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions in Baltimore, Maryland.
Dr. Kristina Ericsson is our most recent Generalist at SIU Ob/Gyn. She is a 2011 Graduate of our residency program and was the AAGL Surgeon of the Year in 2011. She earned her Medical Degree from Ross University as well as a Masters of Public Health.
Dr. Arturo Garza-Cavazos is currently a fellow in Minimally Invasive Robotic Surgery at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. During his fellowship, Dr. Garza will be training under the supervision of Dr. Siddique, Dr. Nelson, and Dr. Loret de Mola, as well as rotating thru Southern Illinois University Urology and Surgery Divisions. Dr. Garza completed his residency at the University of Miami-Jackson Memorial Medical Center after finishing medical school at Boston University School of Medicine in Boston, MA.
Dr. Laurent Brard is our Gynecologic Oncologist at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. Dr. Brard is the newest member of our Robotics team and will use his training for the treatment of Gynecologic cancers. Dr. Brard completed his Fellowship and Residency at Brown University's Women and Infants Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island and is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Brard sees patients at both the Carol Jo Vecchie Women's and Children's Center at St. John's Hosptial and at the Simmons Cancer Institute.
