What attracted you to this program?
I’m a Chicago girl through and through so location was a priority for me when choosing a residency program. I wanted to be able to stay close to my family. However, what attracted me to this program was our program director, Dr. Albers. The kindness and warmth that emanates from her is almost tangible. It’s a delight to work in such a positive and supportive learning environment with dedicated faculty.
What is living in Springfield like for you?
Springfield is a quiet, small town but the best part about living here is that there is never any traffic. It’s easy to commute between the hospitals and the clinic because they’re all within 5-10 minutes of each other so that one tank of gas will go a long way! And if you need to get back into the bustle of city life, Chicago is only 2 ½ hours away.
What are your future plans?
The best part about family medicine is the wide array of opportunities it affords. You have the chance to tailor your residency program to meet your own
clinical interests. As of right now, I’m not sure what my future practice will be. I’m definitely interested in Global Health initiatives and look forward to taking advantage of the opportunity here.
