Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs and Population Health at SIU School of Medicine Chief Medical Officer, SIU HealthCare
Dr. Lausen is responsible for quality & performance improvement, risk prevention & patient safety, population health management & integration, clinical informatics, telehealth, and provider credentialing. He joined SIU in 2007 and has been Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of SIU HealthCare since August 2014. Lausen is a Professor of Family & Community Medicine where he was previously an Assistant Chair and Director of Quality Initiatives and Medical Education for the Department.
Dr. Lausen is a Springfield native who received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in biology from the University of Illinois at Springfield, medical degree from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine, and residency training at the SIU Center for Family Medicine in Springfield. Dr. Lausen is a Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians (ACOFP), American Academy of Family Physicians, Association of Osteopathic Directors and Medical Educators (AODME) and the National Academy of Osteopathic Medical Educators.
Dr. Lausen has served as President of the AODME, Illinois Society of the ACOFP, and the Illinois Osteopathic Medical Society. He serves as Chair of the Bureau of Osteopathic Education for the American Osteopathic Association and as a member of the Review Committee for Family Medicine at the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education. Locally, he serves on the Board of Directors for the Midwest Healthcare Quality Alliance, a partnership with Memorial Health System and Springfield Clinic, and the HSHS Physician Clinical Integration Network.
