Certified Physician Assistant and Coordinator, Acute Care Clinic


Mr. Sims received his Bachelor of Science degree as a Physician Assistant from the University of Nebraska, College of Medicine, and is also a registered nurse. He retired from the US Army where he was an officer in charge of an acute and chronic care clinic. Zach also served a tour of duty in Iraq. Before coming to SIU in 2008, he worked for a year as a Physician Assistant in a small rural health clinic in Beardstown, Illinois. Zach coordinates the Acute Care Clinic at the Center for Family Medicine, participates in the Physician Assistant Training Program and provides a great experience for residents interested in urgent care.
