APPLICATION PROCESS.......................

SIU Springfield Family Medicine Residency Program participates in the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).  Graduates of a U.S. allopathic or osteopathic medical school, please contact your Dean's Office for assistance with your electronic residency application.  International medical school graduates can apply through the Education Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG).

The following is a list of criteria for application to the program:
Applications are accepted through ERAS only; no paper applications accepted.
Applications must be received by December 1.
Applicants must have passed the USMLE, Steps I and II (for DO applicants, we accept COMLEX). The program is more concerned with the number of times an individual repeats the exams before passing rather than having a specific cutoff score.
Applicants who have graduated more than 3 years ago must have 1 year of clinical experience in the United States within the last 5 years.
Applicants must have US citizenship or Permanent Residency. The program does sponsor J-1 visas.
For additional information, contact our website at www.siumed.edu/sfm or contact the residency coordinator at cfmresidencyinfo@siumed.edu
