A
Bit of History About the Springfield Program
| In 1971, William Stewart, M.D., the founding Chairman of the Department of Family Medicine, was the first chairman hired at the newly established SIU School of Medicine by its founding Dean, Richard H. Moy, M.D. | |

| Since that time, it has graduated over 200 physicians and approximately 60% have chosen practice sites in the State of Illinois. | |
