SIU-SM Icon Template Usage

New Interim Templates available 8/24/09

Each template has four sections, which can be used in combination or independently:

1. The top banner bar:
The School’s logo and name must appear on all public departmental or unit pages, and the logo must link back to the School’s Web page. This provides the overall identity for the page and ties it back to the School’s Web page. Intranet or course pages may feature the templates, but are not required to do so. The graphic portion of the School's logo (image without wording) may not be used by itself.

The department/division/unit name can go in the center of the banner.

The top row of buttons must be left as-is. The color used in the banner is hexadecimal #00664D or R:0 G:102 B:77 . More information on using the color in Fireworks and Photoshop

2. The body of the page:
This is for your content. The text instructions should be deleted.

3. The text links at the bottom:
We strongly recommend that you repeat these text links on all departmental or unit pages, as a way for users to move around School of Medicine pages.

4. Contact information, copyright, privacy policy, and updated date: These elements are all required on all departmental or unit pages. Remember, if you have privacy issues that are not covered by the School’s main privacy statement, you should substitute your own statement here (e.g., if you collect personal information as part of registration information for courses, surveys, etc.)

5. Web accessibility: Public Web pages must be compliant with Illinois Web Accessibility Standards, including Federal Section 508 guidelines. How to Download

Save as web page, html only or the correct paths to the buttons and style sheets on the server will be altered. Although you will not see the buttons or formatting while you are editing your page, they will display properly when the page is previewed in Mozilla Firefox or Internet Explorer.

1 bar template (updated August 24, 2009 )

This template has the minimum that must appear on each page. The department name line has formatting allowing the department name to be typed in.

The graphic portion of the School's logo (image without wording) may not be used by itself.

The links are full paths to the buttons and style sheets on the server.

2 bar template (updated August 24, 2009 )

This template provides a second green bar for departmental buttons.

The graphic portion of the School's logo (image without wording) may not be used by itself.

Icon template with drop-down menu (updated May 30, 2007)

This template is no longer supported with the new School of Medicine logo (8/24/09)

A drop down menu is substituted for the horizontal row of buttons.

It is possible to add department buttons to the drop down list
