NRMP Match Results March 20, 2008 Results of the National Resident Matching Program were announced on March 20, 2008.  Seventy senior students at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine have secured residency positions and will begin training July 1, 2008.
  • Ten students (14.2%) will begin residency training in Family Medicine programs and another six (8.5%) each in Emergency Medicine, Obstetrics/Gynecology, Pediatrics and Radiology.  Five students (7.1%) matched in General Surgery, Internal Medicine and Orthopaedic Surgery.  Three (4.2%) in Anesthesiology, Ophthalmology, Pathology, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and Preliminary Surgery, along with two students (2.8%) in Psychiatry.  One student (1.4%) each will train in:  Medicine-Dermatology, Medicine-Pediatrics, Plastic Surgery and Urology.
  • Twenty-three students (32.8%) will be training in Primary Care specialties.  If Obstetrics/Gynecology matches (six students) were included in that figure, it would rise to 41.4%.
  • Fourteen students (20%) will begin their residency training in SIU Programs.  An additional ten students (14.2%) will be training in other programs located in Illinois and twenty-three others (32.8%) elsewhere in the Midwest.  A total of forty-seven students (67.1%) will begin residency training in the Midwest.

NRMP Match Results March 15, 2007 Results of the National Resident Matching Program were announced on March 15, 2007.  Sixty-seven senior students at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine have secured residency positions and will begin training July 1, 2007.
  • Twelve students (18%) will begin residency training in Family Medicine programs and another eleven (16.4%) each in Emergency Medicine and Pediatrics.  Seven students (10.4%) matched in Radiology, four (6%) in Obstetrics/Gynecology and three (4.5%) each in Anesthesiology, General Surgery, Internal Medicine, Ophthalmology and Orthopaedic Surgery.  One student (1.5%) each will train in:  Child Neurology, Medicine/Pediatrics, Medicine/Psychiatry, Neurology, Pathology, Surgery/Preliminary and Urology.
  • Twenty-eight students (42%) will be training in Primary Care specialties.  If Obstetrics/Gynecology matches (four students) were included in that figure, it would rise to 48%.
  • Twelve students (18%) will begin their residency training in SIU Programs.  An additional eight students (12%) will be training in other programs located in Illinois and twenty-seven others (40%) elsewhere in the Midwest.  A total of forty-seven students (70%) will begin residency training in the Midwest.

NRMP Match Results March 16, 2006 Results of the National Resident Matching Program were announced on March 16, 2006. Seventy-one senior students at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine have secured residency positions and will begin training July 1, 2006.
  • Fifteen students (21%) will begin residency training in Family Practice programs and another eleven (16%) in Internal Medicine. Nine students (13%) matched in Pediatrics, eight (11%) in Emergency Medicine, and five (7%) in General Surgery. Four students (6%) matched in Orthopaedic Surgery and three (4%) in Plastic Surgery. Two students (3%) will begin training in each of the following: Anesthesiology, Preliminary Medicine, Obstetrics/Gynecology, Ophthalmology, and Urology. One student (1%) each will train in: Dermatology, Medicine/Pediatrics, Pathology, Psychiatry, Radiology, and Preliminary Surgery.
  • Thirty-six students (51%) will be training in Primary Care specialties. If Obstetrics/Gynecology matches (two students) were included in that figure, it would rise to 54%.
  • Fourteen students (20%) will begin their residency training in SIU Programs. An additional eighteen students (25%) will be training in other programs located in Illinois, and twenty others (28%) elsewhere in the Midwest. A total of fifty-two students (73%) will begin residency training in the Midwest.

NRMP Match Results March 17, 2005 Results of the National Resident Matching Program were announced on March 17, 2005. Sixty-five senior students at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine have secured residency positions and will begin training July 1, 2005.
  • Eleven (16.9%) will begin residency training in Family and Community Medicine. Eight students (12.3%) matched in each of the following: Pediatrics, Obstetrics/Gynecology and Emergency Medicine. Six students (9.2%) each will begin training in Internal Medicine and Orthopaedic Surgery. Three (4.6%) matched in each of the following: General Surgery, Radiology and Anesthesiology. Two students (3%) will begin training in each of the following: Neurology and Dermatology. One student (1.5%) each will train in Otolaryngology, Pediatric Neurology, Plastic Surgery, Psychiatry and Internal Medicine/Psychiatry.
  • Twenty-five (38.5%) students will be training in Primary Care specialties. If Obstetrics/Gynecology matches (8 students) were included in that figure, it would rise to 50.8%.
  • Eight students (12.3%) will begin their residency training in SIU Programs. An additional 13 students (20%) will be training in other programs located in Illinois, and 25 others (38.5%) elsewhere in the Midwest. A total of 46 students (71%) will begin residency training in the Midwest.
