• COMP clinic is the Comprehensive Weight Management Program at SIU.
• We are a multidisciplinary team that provides comprehensive evaluation and management of obesity.
• Physicians with a broad interest in the study and management of obesity are available for consultation.
• Consultation includes comprehensive history and physical examination with emphasis on identifying possible underlying causes of obesity, associated complications and developing a treatment plan.
• The program offers a variety of effective treatment options including dietary education, exercise recommendations, behavior therapy techniques, medications, surgery, and/or a combination of these options.
• Medications are available to suitable candidates under close physician supervision to monitor response and identify potential side effects.
• Bariatric surgery is available to suitable candidates. We offer a wide range of surgical procedures including minimally invasive laparoscopic approach. Gastric bypass, gastric band, biliopancreatic diversion, sleeve gastrectomy are some of the procedures offered by our program.
