William Stevens , MD

Dr. William Stevens is an associate professor of cardiothoracic surgery at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. He practices all aspects of cardiothoracic and vascular surgery.
Dr. Stevens earned his bachelor’s degree from the College of Charleston in 1978 and his medical degree in 1982 from the Medical University of South Carolina. After receiving his general surgery training at the University of Virginia Medical Center in 1988, Dr. Stevens entered private practice in Charleston, South Carolina. He also served a research fellowship in surgery at the University of Virginia Medical Center in 1985.
For 13 years prior to joining SIU, Dr. Stevens was involved in the private practice of cardiothoracic surgery in Springfield. He is certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. Dr. Stevens is a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians, the American College of Surgeons and the American College of Cardiology.
