Brief Bio
Dr. William Pyle is an associate professor of cardiothoracic surgery at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. He practices all aspects of cardiothoracic and vascular surgery.
Dr. Pyle earned his bachelor's degree from Southern Illinois University in 1978 and his medical degree in 1981 from SIU School of Medicine. After receiving his general surgery training at SIU in 1986, Dr. Pyle completed a fellowship in vascular surgery in 1987 followed by a fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery in 1989 from the University of Iowa Hospital & clinics.
For 15 years prior to joining SIU, Dr. Pyle was involved in the private practice of cardiothoracic surgery in Springfield. He is certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. Dr. Pyle's professional affiliations include the Society of Thoracic Surgery, the Illinois State Medical Society and the board of directors of the Sangamon County Medical Society.
