Tilitha Shawgo is a clinical instructor and certified critical care nurse specialist in the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Department of Surgery at Southern Illinois School of Medicine.
Ms. Shawgo received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville in 1980 and a master’s degree in nursing sciences from University of Illinois-Chicago in 1995.
She is certified in critical care nursing and belongs to the American Association of Critical Care Nurses. Ms. Shawgo’s special interests include care and management of patients undergoing cardiac and thoracic surgery, especially thoracoscopic surgery. Her role within the division is as a clinical nurse specialist case-managing patients referred for surgical procedures. She also functions as a research assistant.
Ms. Shawgo is a member of Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society, National Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists, Illinois Society of Advanced Practice Nursing and Oncology Nursing Society.
