CALL:

Call requirements are different for each service. Students are allowed to take two days of call during each one-week rotation. Call time is 0600-2200 in accordance with work hour restrictions:

1. During call experiences the student responds to and participates in patient care on the wards, trauma, emergency surgery and emergency admissions referred to the surgical services. 
2. Two call days are required on the general and trauma services. Call will be in-house on one weekday and one Friday or Saturday from 0600-2200. General and Trauma call will be pre-assigned by the clerkship. All assigned call time is the student’s responsibility. Any changes to the call schedule must be approved by a nurse educator.
3. Each Specialty determines their specific call requirements not to exceed two days in one week and not beyond the hours of 2200.

General & Trauma:                                           

• 1 weekday ea. ----* No call when core is the next day.
• 1 weekend ea. ----* ONE Friday and ONE Saturday in 10 weeks.
