Thank you for your inquiry regarding the Emergency Medicine Residency Program at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. At this time, we only take residents through the National Resident Matching Program at the first year level. If you choose to apply to our program, you will need to make application through ERAS (Electronic Residency Application Service). Check with your Dean’s Office or ECFMG Office for location of the Student Workstation and instructions on the ERAS process. In addition to the application, we require a Dean's letter of recommendation, transcripts, three letters of recommendation other than the Dean's letter, and USMLE or COMLEX Step I scores (transmit Step II when available). Paper applications are not acceptable; all applications must be processed through ERAS. We review all applications sent to us via ERAS.
U.S. clinical experience is not mandatory and we do not sponsor H-1B visas. Residents are required to have their own transport in order to travel between hospitals and their own accommodation. Although there are apartments/houses close to the facilities, we do not furnish resident housing.
