Jafari, Hosseinali MD
Where are you from? Most recently, Columbus, Ohio where I was as a researcher/observer at the Ohio State University in Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery. Prior to that, I was in Ankara, Turkey for 5 years at the GAZI University Hospital where I received my ENT training, but originally I am from Iran where I grew up and earned my MD at Yazd University.
What brought you to SIU? The opportunity to continue my training in Head and Neck Surgery with Dr. Robbins.
What is your area of interest/research? My primary interest continues to be in Head and Neck Surgery and I wish to continue with research in this field.
Craig Berzofsky, MD
Dr. Craig Berzofsky is a clinical faculty member for the Division of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery-Head and Neck Surgery at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine and Laryngology Fellow training with Dr. Gayle Woodson. Originally from Baltimore, Maryland, Dr. Berzofsky holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, and a Masters of Health Sciences degree from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. He subsequently matriculated from medical school at New York Medical College in Valhalla, New York and remained in New York for his General Surgery Internship at St. Vincents Catholic Hospital and his Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery Residency at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary.
Dr. Berzofsky’s clinical interests are mostly in Laryngology, focusing in diseases of the larynx affecting voice, swallowing and breathing. His research efforts are in nerve regeneration after vocal fold paralysis in particular how to prevent aberrant reinnervation and increase functional reinnervation. He is also interested in general otolaryngology including pediatrics and endocrine surgery. He has authored several book chapters and journal publications related to laryngology.
