Dr. Elizabeth Peralta is an assistant professor in the Division of General Surgery, Department of Surgery at the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine.
Dr. Peralta received her medical degree from the University of California in Irvine. She completed her general surgery residency at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle and then a surgical oncology fellowship at the City of Hope National Medical Center in California. While in California, Dr. Peralta served as Education Committee Chair for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation Los Angeles Affiliate.
Dr. Peralta is board certified in general surgery. She is an associate member of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the Society of Surgical Oncology. Her surgical interests include breast cancer, gastrointestinal tumors and melanoma.
She has received regional and national awards for research and presentations. Dr. Peralta's research concerns cancer prevention through nutrition and weight control.
