Dr. David Rea is an Assistant Professor in the Division of General Surgery at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. He is Board Certified in General Surgery by the American Board of Surgery. He completed his residency in General Surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. He then completed a two year fellowship in Abdominal Transplant Surgery, also at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.

Dr. Rea’s surgical expertise and interest include renal transplantation, pancreas transplantation, and surgical treatment of benign and malignant breast disease. He is also broadly trained in all aspects of general surgery, including laparoscopic surgery, liver surgery, pancreas surgery, and biliary tract surgery.
