MEDICAL TOURISM AND TRAINING SERVICES

Working in conjunction with our communities business, hospitality and healthcare leaders - we provide a select grouping of niche surgical procedures for patients traveling great distance. In addition, we leverage this same expertise and infrastructure to coordinate specialized educational opportunities for clinicians - both domestically and internationally.

THE SIU SCHOOL OF MEDICINE - SIU SURGICAL SPECIALITIES

We are a moderately sized - international leader in medical education, innovation and curriculum delivery.
With SIU Surgery, you can expect:

This tradition of excellence in health education is the foundation of all we do at SIU. Our basic sciences laboratories have produced significant advancements in areas such as hearing impairment, cardiothoracic disease, cosmetic and reconstructive surgery, transplants and cancer. Expanding programs in translational research transform this new knowledge into practical application for our patients.

We have 60 full-time faculty, 40 part-time affiliate faculty and 200 additional full-time staff who support our mission. Our surgeons perform 10,000 surgeries annually for adults in the specialties of cardiothoracic surgery, general surgery, neurosurgery, otolaryngology-head and neck surgery, plastic and reconstructive surgery, orthopaedic surgery, urology, and vascular surgery; and we perform pediatric procedures in otolaryngology, urology and plastic surgery. Emergency Medicine is also affiliated with our department, closely connected to our trauma team and other surgical subspecialties.

The SIU School of Medicine is dedicated to improving the health of the people we serve through its four-fold mission of education, clinical care, research, and community service. We aim to fulfill the triple aim plus one – medical education and health care that are more effective, more affordable, more efficient, more equitable, and more enjoyable. I am happy to extend this same dedication to you. Again, welcome to SIU, and welcome to Springfield.
