Dr. Saleh is nationally and internationally known for development and utilization of cutting-edge surgical procedures related to adult reconstructive orthopaedic surgery and joint replacement. He received his medical training at the University of Western Ontario, graduating in 1991, and he completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Toronto in 1997, followed by a fellowship in geriatric orthopaedics at the University of Toronto at Mt. Sinai Hospital, Toronto. In addition, he holds a Masters in Health Care Management from Harvard School of Public Health.
Dr. Saleh currently serves as the Division Chairman of the Division of Orthopaedics at SIU School of Medicine. Prior to coming to Springfield, Dr. Saleh served as a clinical instructor at Cornell Medical College Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City, a faculty member in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Minnesota, and as the Division Chief of Adult Reconstruction in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Virginia.
Dr. Saleh is the author of over 150 journal publications, many books, chapters, abstracts, and over 200 presentations. He has been invited many times to be a visiting professor, give lectures and symposiums, as well as moderate various activities both nationally and internationally. He is a member of several orthopaedic societies, and is Board Certified by the American Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons, where he also serves as an oral examiner for surgeons seeking board certification. Dr. Saleh is the recipient of the 2013 “Teacher of the Year” award, presented by the Residents of SIU Orthopaedic Surgery, which he counts among his highest honors.
