Wendell W. Becton, MD
Assistant Professor

 

 

 

 

Wendell W. Becton, MD, assistant professor of surgery, specializes in nonsurgical orthopaedics/sports medicine and rehabilitation. Prior to joining SIU, he was the medical director of sports medicine at Decatur Memorial Hospital and had a solo practice with DMH Medical Group, specializing in musculoskeletal medicine/primary care orthopaedics and sports medicine.

Dr. Becton has been a team physician for the St. Louis Cardinal baseball team since 2007, now affiliated with Mercy Health System.

Dr. Becton has served as a Flight Surgeon in the U.S. Air Force Reserves in a variety of official medical capacities since 1994. In 2010, he was deployed with Operation Enduring Freedom to Bagram Air Base, Afghanistan.

Dr. Becton completed a fellowship in sports medicine at MacNeal Family Practice/Rush Presbyterian, St. Luke’s in Berwyn. He completed a residency in family practice at SIU School of Medicine in Quincy. He received his medical degree at East Tennessee State in Johnson City.

Dr. Becton is board certified in family medicine and sports medicine.
