The Division of orthopaedics Foot and Ankle Clinic offers full service care, including reconstructive foot surgery and treatment for post-traumatic injuries. Many patients are referred to the clinic by primary physicians from throughout Illinois.

About 130 patients are treated at the clinic each month, which includes about 15 – 20 new patients each week. They suffer from a variety of foot and ankle related ailments, from minor to very complex, which can include impending amputation.

Total ankle replacement shows increasing promise in treating severe ankle problems. While total joint replacement surgery has been effective for treating arthritis of the hip, knee and shoulder, until recently, total ankle replacements were less successful. As the procedure gains popularity in the U.S. to treat patients with painful and disabling ankle arthritis, new techniques lessen the healing process and patients recapture lost mobility.

The clinic also provides proactive foot care services such as trimming toenails, to the most advanced, complex treatment and procedures.
