Brief Bio
David J.Olysav, MD., is an Associate Professor of orthopaedic surgery with research interests in trauma and biomechanics. Dr. Olysav previously practiced in Springfield from 1980 until 1997, serving as an attending physician at both Memorial Medical Center (MMC) and St. John's Hospital. At MMC he chaired the Orthopaedic Surgery Department and was Medical Director of both the amputee clinic and the Regional Orthopaedic Center.  Prior to returning to Springfield, Dr. Olysav was an attending physician and practiced in the Cayman Islands.
Dr.Olysav received his bachelor's degree and medical degree from the University of Wisconsin in Madison. Following an internship at Saginaws Cooperative Hospitals in Saginaw, Michigan and serving as a medical officer in the Navy, he completed his residency at the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine.
Dr. Olysav is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He is a member of several medical societies, including the Illinois Orthopaedic Society, the Central Illinois Orthopaedic Society, the Sangamon County Medical Society and the Illinois State Medical Society.
