Why SIU: I was instantly impressed by the residents’ work ethic and drive to teach and challenge each other. The commitment to education and learning was evident from the faculty and residents. The senior resident’s technical skill and knowledge of the literature reassured me that I would get a great education. I was attracted to the early operative experience and the one-on-one operative instruction from both academic and community surgeons. SIU is ripe for research activity-the faculty and supportive research staff actively provide opportunities for involvement.

Why SIU: I rotated with SIU orthopaedics as a fourth year med student, and it was easily the most impressive program I had been to. The camaraderie of the fellow residents, coupled with the early operative experience and mixture of academic and private Orthopeadic exposure, made this program my top choice.
I am truly privileged to be a part of it.

Why SIU: While interviewing, I was confident that surgical education was a priority at SIU. This was exemplified by early surgical experience and a modern surgical skills lab. I was also impressed with the camaraderie among the residents and Dr. Saleh's vision for the program's future.
