Brief Bio
William Greer is a Physician Assistant in the Division of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. He manages patients with problems relates to general otolaryngology (ear, nose and throat disease), including sinusitis, allergic rhinitis, chronic otitis media, enlarged tonsils, dysphagia (difficulty swallowing), hearing loss, tinnitus and vertigo. He sees patients independently of the physicians and refers surgical candidates to the appropriate SIU surgeon in the practice.
He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in food and nutrition from Southern Illinois University Carbondale. He completed a dietetic internship with the Florida Department of Education. Most recently he obtained his Physician Assistant degree from Southern Illinois University Carbondale. He is board certified by the National Commission of Certification of the Physician Assistant (NCCPA).
Prior to joining Southern Illinois University, Mr. Greer was employed as a Registered Dietitian at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Greer is a member of several organizations including the American Academy of Physician Assistants, the Society of Physician Assistants in Otorhinolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery, and the Illinois Academy of Physician Assistants. He is a past member of the Southern Illinois University Physician Assistant Program Admissions Committee.
