Brief Bio
Dr. James P. Malone is Associate Professor and Residency Program Director in the Division of
Otolaryngology at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. He is board certified in Otolaryngology with subspecialty training and expertise in the treatment of head and neck tumors, thyroid and parathyroid surgery, and reconstructive surgery of the head and neck including
microvascular (free flap) surgery. Dr. Malone completed a fellowship in head and neck surgical
oncology and reconstructive surgery at Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital & Richard Solove Research Institute at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. He completed his residency in otolaryngology at The Pennsylvania State University in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Dr. Malone received his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and his bachelor’s degree from The Pennsylvania State University in University
Park, Pennsylvania.
Dr. Malone is a member of several national organizations including the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery, the American College of Surgeons, the American Head and Neck Society, the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the Society of University Otolaryngologists, and the American Association for Cancer Research.
Dr. Malone’s research interests in head and neck oncology include clinical trials for the treatment of head and cancer, tumor tissue banking, and translational (bench to bedside)
