Dr. Bueno is board certified by The American Board of Plastic Surgery with added qualifications in surgery of the hand. His practice includes general plastic surgery with special interests in adult and pediatric hand surgery, congenital hand anomalies, cleft lip and palate surgery, microsurgery, brachial plexus reconstruction and facial reanimation surgery.
Dr. Bueno has research interests in nerve regeneration and outcomes following traumatic injuries of the hand. Dr. Bueno earned his bachelor’s degree from Yale University and his medical degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. He received his plastic surgery residency training at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. He completed fellowships in hand and upper extremity surgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City and pediatric plastic surgery at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. Since 2008,
Dr. Bueno has been the Program Director of the Plastic Surgery Residency Program at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Springfield, Illinois.
Dr. Bueno is a member of The American Society of Plastic Surgeons, American Society for Surgery of the Hand, American Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery, American Association for Hand Surgery, American Society for Peripheral Nerve, Plastic Surgery Research Council, American Cleft Palate Craniofacial Association, American Council of Academic Plastic Surgeons and serves on multiple committees for these organizations. He is the current President-Elect of the Midwestern Association of Plastic Surgeons.
