Surgery Resident Readiness Program

This elective is designed to provide participants with the skills and knowledge to successfully begin their PGY 1 year in surgical training. Specifically, it is designed to be certain that they possess those Prerequisites for Graduate Surgical Education developed by the American College of Surgeons Graduate Medical Education Committee. The rotation will last one month and the students will engage in small group exercises, independent study, cadaver dissection and skills training in the SIU Department of Surgery Skills Laboratory.
