Dr. Stephen D.W. Beck is Associate Professor of Surgery in the Division of Urology at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine.  He completed his general surgery and urology residency at Indiana University in 2001 after graduating medical school in 1995 from SIU.  He completed a urologic oncology fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in 2003.  For the last 10 years, Dr. Beck was on faculty at Indiana University and developed an international reputation in the management of testicular cancer and specifically the surgical management of complex retroperitoneal tumors.  He also was urologic oncology fellowship director. 

Dr. Beck has clinical and research interests in germ cell tumors, retroperitoneal pathology (benign and malignant), bladder cancer, and advanced renal cell carcinoma.  He is a member of the American Urologic Association and Society of Urologic Oncology.  He has published over 65 articles and book chapters. 

Dr. Beck directs the SIU urology clinics at St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur, IL.  The doctor also has a clinic practice at the Simmons Cancer Institute at SIU focused on the management of complex urologic patients with both benign and malignant pathology.
