Brief Bio

Dr. Don Ramsey is a graduate of Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana, where he received his bachelor’s degree in 1970.  He received his medical degree in 1973 from Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis.
Upon completion of an internship in general surgery at Indiana University in 1974, he began a general surgery residency program at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine, which he completed in 1978.  He continued at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine and completed a one-year fellowship in vascular surgery in 1979.  He then joined the faculty at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in the summer of 1979.  Dr. Ramsey is board certified in general surgery, with special qualifications in vascular surgery.
He has an interest in peripheral vascular disease as well as general surgery.  Dr. Ramsey has published numerous articles, co-authored book chapters, and given clinic presentations throughout the United States and abroad.
Dr. Ramsey is a member of the American College of Surgeons, Illinois Surgical Society, Central Surgical Society, Midwestern Vascular Surgical Society, and Society for Vascular Surgery.  He was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society in 1993.
