Brief Biography

Dr. Don Ramsey is a graduate of Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana, where he received his bachelor's degree in 1970. He received his medical degree in 1973 from the Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis.
Upon completion of an internship in general surgery at Indiana University in 1974, he began a general surgery residency program at the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine, which he completed in 1978. He completed a one-year fellowship in vascular surgery at the SIU School of Medicine in 1979.
Dr. Ramsey is a board-certified general surgeon with special qualifications in vascular surgery. He has an interest in peripheral vascular disease as well as general surgery.
Dr. Ramsey has published numerous articles, co-authored book chapters, and given clinical presentations throughout the United States and abroad. He is currently a member of the American College of Surgeons, American Medical Association, Illinois State Medical Society and Sangamon County Medical Society. He is a member and past chairman of the American College of Surgeons Illinois Committee on Trauma. He previously served as course director for the SIU School of Medicine's Advanced Trauma Life Support Course.
