The purpose of the Trauma Nurse Specialist Program is to increase the competency of nurses in the delivery of care to critically ill or injured patients.
This advanced practice level course focuses on the care of trauma patients during
pre-hospital, resuscitation, peri-operative, and the intensive care phases.
A strong emphasis on anatomy, pathophysiology, and a multidisciplinary approach to quality trauma care will be incorporated into the course.
Extensive reading and study time on your own is necessary for a successful completion of the state exam.
The independent nursing judgment gained from attending will greatly influence the outcome for critically ill or injured patients.
