Hints for Slide ERG 17.

The source for this specimen should be obvious (and confidently so), provided you are familiar with the organ it represents.  The sample is normal, not pathological.

This specimen has several distinctive regions and tissue types.  These should be noticed in relation to the overall size and shape of the specimen.

  • Surface epithelium (what kind?) over much of this specimen.
  • Several deep crevices (these are not artifacts).
  • Dense packing of cells throughout most of the bulk of the specimen.
  • Deep supporting tissue.

Hints on the next page are more revealing.  Don't look until you are ready to confirm your identification.

More hints.
