Pyramidal Cells of Cerebral Cortex

Neuron preparation by Ramón y Cajal

This image (© Blue Histology) shows several cortical pyramidal cells stained brown.  The long apical dendrite of each pyramidal cell is quite prominent, extending upward toward the surface of the cerebral cortex.

Other cells of the cortex (both neurons and glia) remain unstained and invisible.
