    About me

    Dr. Baumgartner joined the faculty of the Doctor of Medical Science (DMSc) program in 2021. Dr. Baumgartner has previously held several faculty appointments in addition to full time clinical practice as a physician assistant since 1985. His clinical areas of expertise include surgery (neuro, general, trauma, ortho, spine, hand, plastics, urology, vascular, cardiovascular, thoracic, pediatric, critical care) and medicine (emergency, critical care, occupational, primary care, internal, hospital, palliative, hospice, covid-19). Dr. Baumgartner serves in many leadership positions and is the current President of the Academy of Physician Assistants in Legal Medicine and the AAPA Delegate for the Illinois Academy of Physician Assistants (IAPA).
