Why SIU?:  Attending medical school at SIU, I had the opportunity to work with SIU Dermatology early on in my medical school career, and I feel extremely lucky to train with the faculty and residents who helped foster my interest in dermatology. The collegial environment at SIU is unparalleled, and I can’t imagine a better environment to train in! The faculty are welcoming, enthusiastic, and committed to both outstanding patient care and education. In addition, SIU has a very strong dermpath and surgical curriculum, as well as a long history of training excellent clinicians. I am honored and excited to become part of the SIU Dermatology team!

Bob Schnietz, MD

Hometown: Edwardsville, Illinois

Undergraduate School: SIUE

Medical School: Southern Illinois University School of Medicine

Why SIU: The dermatology program at SIU offers great clinical training, dedicated faculty, and residents who love being a part of the program. As a rotating medical student, it was evident that the residents and faculty enjoyed working with each other and teaching medical students. A major strength of the program is the monthly dermatology clinics that preliminary medicine interns attend during clinic week. This allows residents to learn about the clinic workflow in addition to feeling like part of the program from day one of intern year.

Areas of interest: Dermatopathology and General Dermatology

Outside interest: Basketball, Tennis, and Traveling
