Pediatric Genetics Providers

Julie Fleischer, MD

Dr. Fleischer received her medical degree from Hahnemann University in Philadelphia and completed a pediatrics residency at Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital in St. Louis. After practicing pediatrics in her hometown of Carlinville, Ill., for 12 years, she sought training in genetics to provide more in depth care for children with genetic diseases. She completed her clinical genetics fellowship at St. Louis Children’s
Hospital, Washington University School of Medicine. Her special interests include developmental delays, autism, connective tissue disorders, metabolic disorders and complex genetic disorders.

Daniel Groepper, CGC

Daniel Groepper, CGC, earned his MS in Molecular, Cellular, Development Biology and Genetics at University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, MN.

Sibyl Cox

Sibyl Cox, MS, RDN, CSP is a registered dietitian with a Master’s Degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia where she also completed the Coordinated Program in Dietetics.  Board certified by the Commission on Dietetic Registration, she is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, Genetic Metabolic Dietitians International and the American Society of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition.  Cox is also a Board Certified Specialist in Pediatric Nutrition and has been co-authored multiple publications as well as speaking nationally about children with feeding disorders.  Special interests include children with metabolic conditions, children with special health care needs or need for enteral nutrition and children with feeding disorders. 

Kimberly Thompson, RN, BSN

Kimberly Thompson, RN, BSN is a Pediatric Registered Nurse at SIU School of Medicine.  She received a bachelor’s of science degree in nursing at Benedictine University at Springfield (2014).  Kimberly has been a registered nurse for 20 years, specializing in Pediatrics for 11 years. Her background also includes Case Management and Administration.

Mary O'Connor, CGC

Mary O'Conner, CGC, is a certified genetics counselor. She earned her Bachelor of Scinece in Biology at Millikin University, Decatur, IL; her Master of Science in Social Work at University of Tennessee-Knoxville, Memphis, TN; and her Master of Art in Teaching at Lindenwood University, St. Charles, MO.

Brook Croke, MPH

Brook Croke, MPH, is a certified genetics counselor. She earned her Bachelor of Scinece in Biochemistry at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, IL; her Master of Science in Genetic Counseling at Northwestern University, Chicago, IL; and her Master of Public Health at University of Illinois, Springfield, IL.
