Mary York, MSW
I’m a PhD student in the School of Human Sciences at SIU with an emphasis in rural mental health services research. My interests include the psychosocial determinants of health, substance use disorders and treatment access within marginalized populations, and mental health services utilization. Previous research projects I’ve been involved in while at SIU have spanned a range of topics including community paramedicine, stress and resilience among military veterans, agricultural producer mental health, and rural opioid response programming. My prior work experience includes the management of clinical trials in the areas of oncology and cardiology as well as IRB administration. I received a B.A. in Sociology from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and a Master of Social Work from Washington University in St. Louis.
