Colorectal Fellowship Application Process

The SIU Colorectal Surgery Residency Program participates in the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). All applications must be submitted through ERAS in July.   

Colorectal Surgery Residency begins August 1 for the duration of one year. All applications must include the following:

  1. Application for Colorectal Surgery Residency (this is the standard online application)
  2. Dean’s letter and/or official transcripts
  3. At least three letters of recommendation
  4. USMLE or COMLEX scores
  5. Personal statement
  6. Curriculum vitae

The selection of the resident in the program is carried out by the program director with the assistance of the teaching facility.

Applicants are evaluated on their preparedness, ability, aptitude, academic credentials, communication skills, and personal qualities such as motivation and integrity. Programs will not discriminate with regard to race, religion, national origin, citizenship, sex, age, handicap or other factors prohibited by law. SIU School of Medicine participates in the National Resident Matching Program as an Institution.
