  • Third place = $100

An additional "Innovation Award" may be given for the project that most demonstrates "out of the box thinking" or creative approach to successfully implement innovative quality improvement with demonstrated outcomes.

To be eligible for consideration, submitted projects must show initiative and commitment applied to improving systems and processes that directly and indirectly improve patient safety and quality of healthcare delivery.

The competition is open to any SIU SOM resident/fellow, who is a current trainee at the time of their submission.  All submissions will be reviewed and judged by a panel of SIU SOM faculty and hospital administrators that possess expertise in and are passionate about quality improvement. Judging criteria will be based on Revised Standards for Quality Improvement Reporting Excellence (SQUIRE) guidelines.
