NRMP Match Results March 17, 2017: Sixty-two SIU seniors have secured residency positions.

  • Eleven students (18%) will begin residency training in Internal Medicine, ten (16%) in Pediatrics, nine (15%) in Family Medicine, seven (11%) in Emergency Medicine, five (8%) in Psychiatry, and three each (5%) in Anesthesiology, Dermatology, General Surgery, and Radiology. Medicine-Pediatrics, Obstetrics-Gynecology, and Preliminary Surgery matched two (3%) students each.  Neurology, Orthopaedic Surgery, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and Plastic Surgery attracted one student each.
  • Six students (10%) will begin their residency training in SIU programs. An additional seven (11%) students will be training in other programs located in Illinois.

NRMP Match Results March 18, 2016: Sixty-seven senior students at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine have secured residency positions and will begin training July 1, 2016.

  • Twelve students (18%) will begin residency training in Pediatrics programs, eleven (16%) in Internal Medicine and eight (12%) in Emergency Medicine.   Seven students (10%) matched in Obstetrics-Gynecology, six (9%) in Family Medicine, five (7%) in Anesthesiology, four (6%) in Urology, and three each (4%) in General Surgery and Radiology.   Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Preliminary Surgery matched two (3%) students each.  Orthopaedic Surgery, Pathology, Psychiatry, and Vascular Surgery attracted one (1%) student each.
  • Twenty-nine students (43%) will begin training in Primary Care specialties.  If Obstetrics/Gynecology matches (seven students) were included in that figure, it would rise to 54%.
  • Eleven students (16%) will begin their residency training in SIU Programs. An additional nine students (13%) will be training in other programs located in Illinois, and thirty others (45%) elsewhere in the Midwest. A total of fifty students (75%) will begin residency training in the Midwest.

NRMP Match Results March 20, 2015: Senior medical students in the graduating Class of 2015 at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine received results from the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) on Friday, March 20, at the same time other U.S. medical students learned their matches to postgraduate training programs. Sixty-six SIU seniors have secured residency positions.

  • Ten students (15%) will begin residency training in Internal Medicine programs, nine (14%) in Family Medicine and nine (14%) in Pediatrics. Six students (9%) matched in Emergency Medicine, five (7%) in Anesthesiology, four (6%) in Obstetrics/Gynecology, and three each (4%) in Neurology, Psychiatry and Radiology.
  • Additionally, Medicine-Pediatrics, Orthopaedic Surgery and Plastic Surgery attracted two (3%) students each. Medicine-Psychiatry, Neurological Surgery, Ophthalmology, Pathology, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Transitional, Urology and Vascular Surgery matched one (1%) student each.
  • Thirty SIU medical students (45%) will train in the primary care specialties of family medicine, internal medicine and pediatrics. If the obstetrics/gynecology matches (four students) are included, the total rises to 51 percent.
  • Sixteen students (24%) will begin their residency training in SIU programs. An additional 10 students (15%) will be training in other programs located in Illinois and 25 others (38%) elsewhere in the Midwest. A total of 51 students (77%) will begin training in the Midwest.

NRMP Match Results March 21, 2014: Sixty-five senior students at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine have secured residency positions and will begin training July 1, 2014.

  • Eleven students (18%) will begin residency training in Pediatrics programs, ten (15%) in Internal Medicine and eight (12%) in Emergency Medicine.  Four students (6%) matched in Anesthesiology, four (6%) in Dermatology, four (6%) in Family Medicine, four (6%) in General Surgery and three each (5%) in Orthopaedic Surgery and Urology.  Two students each (3%) will train in Medicine-Pediatrics, Neurology, Obstetrics-Gynecology and Radiology.  Medicine-Psychiatry, Neurological Surgery, Otolaryngology, Pathology, and Plastic Surgery attracted one (1%) student each.
  • Twenty-eight students (43%) will begin training in Primary Care specialties.  If Obstetrics-Gynecology matches (two students) were included in that figure, it would rise to 46%.
  • Twenty students (31%) will begin their residency training in SIU Programs.  An additional eleven students (17%) will be training in other programs located in Illinois and sixteen others (25%) elsewhere in the Midwest.  A total of forty-seven students (72%) will begin residency training in the Midwest.

NRMP Match Results March 15, 2013: Sixty-eight senior students at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine have secured residency positions and will begin training
July 1, 2013.

  • Nine students (13%) will begin residency training in Family Medicine programs, eight (12%) in Internal Medicine, and eight (12%) in Pediatrics. Six students (9%) matched in Radiology, five (7%) in Surgery-Preliminary, four (6%) in Emergency Medicine, four (6%) in Medicine-Pediatrics and three each (4%) in General Surgery, Obstetrics/Gynecology and Orthopaedic Surgery. Two students each (3%) will train in Anesthesiology, Otolaryngology and Plastic Surgery. Internal Medicine/Primary Care, Neurological Surgery, Neurology, Ophthalmology, Pathology, Psychiatry, Radiation Oncology, Urology and Vascular Surgery attracted one (1%) student each.
  • Thirty students (44%) will begin training in Primary Care specialties. If Obstetrics-Gynecology matches (three students) were included in that figure, it would rise to 49%.
  • Sixteen students (24%) will begin their residency training in SIU Programs. An additional twelve students (18%) will be training in other programs located in Illinois and twenty-six others (38%) elsewhere in the Midwest. A total of fifty-four students (79%) will begin their residency training in the Midwest.

NRMP Match Results March 16, 2012: Sixty-six senior students at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine have secured residency positions and will begin training July 1, 2012.

  • Fourteen students (21%) will begin residency training in Family Medicine programs, eight (12%) in Internal Medicine, and seven (11%) in Emergency Medicine.  Six students (9%) matched in Pediatrics, five (7%) in Medicine-Pediatrics, and four each (6%) in Obstetrics-Gynecology and Radiology.  Three students (4%) will train in General Surgery and three (4%) in Psychiatry, along with two (3%) students each in Anesthesiology, Neurological Surgery, Orthopaedic Surgery, and Plastic Surgery.  Dermatology, Medicine-Preventive Medicine, Pathology, and Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation attracted one (1%) student each.
  • Thirty-four students (51%) will begin training in Primary Care specialties.  If Obstetrics-Gynecology matches (four students) were included in that figure, it would rise to 57%.
  • Twelve students (18%) will begin their residency training in SIU Programs.  An additional seventeen students (26%) will be training in other programs located in Illinois and twenty-one others (32%) elsewhere in the Midwest.  A total of fifty students (76%) will begin residency training in the Midwest.

NRMP Match Results March 17, 2011: Sixty students at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine have secured residency positions and will begin training July 1, 2011.

  • Sixteen students (27%) will begin residency training in Internal Medicine programs, nine (15%) in Obstetrics-Gynecology, and eight (13%) in Family Medicine.  Five students (8%) matched in Emergency Medicine, four (7%) in Pediatrics, and three each (5%) in Anesthesiology, Orthopaedic Surgery, Radiology, and Urology.   Medicine-Emergency Medicine, Medicine-Pediatrics, Neurology, Plastic Surgery, Surgery-Preliminary, and Transitional attracted one student each (2%). 
  • Thirty students (50%) will be training in Primary Care specialties.  If Obstetrics/Gynecology matches (nine students) were included in that figure, it would rise to 65%.
  • Nine students (15%) will begin their residency training in SIU Programs.  An additional nine students (15%) will be training in other programs located in Illinois and twenty others (33%) elsewhere in the Midwest.  A total of thirty-eight students (63%) will begin residency training in the Midwest.

NRMP Match Results March 17, 2010: Sixty-four students at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine have secured residency positions and will begin training July 1, 2010.

  • Thirteen students (20%) will begin residency training in Internal Medicine programs and eight (12.5%) in Family Medicine. Six students (9%) matched in Emergency Medicine and Pediatrics, with another five students (8%) matched in Obstetrics-Gynecology and General Surgery. Four (6%) will train in Anesthesiology, along with three (4.6%) in Radiology-Diagnostic and two (3%) in Child Neurology, Medicine-Pediatrics and Psychiatry. One student (1.5%) each will train in: Dermatology, Medicine-Psychiatry, Neurological Surgery,Plastic Sugery, Surgery-Preliminary, Urology, Transitional and Vascular Surgery.
  • Thirty students (46.8%) will be training in Primary Care specialties. If Obstetrics/Gynecology matches (five students) were included in the figure, it would rise to 54.6%.
  • Fifteen students(23%) will begin their residency training in SIU Programs. An additional eight students (12.5%) will be training in other programs located in Illinois and twenty-one others (32.8%) elsewhere in the Midwest. A total of forty-four students (68.7%) will begin residency training in the Midwest. 

NRMP Match Results March 19, 2009: Sixty-four students at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine have secured residency positions and will begin training July 1, 2009.

  • Eleven students (17%) will begin residency training in Internal Medicine programs and another six (9%) in Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine and Pediatrics. Five students (8%) matched in Obstetrics-Gynecology and Radiology. Four (6%) in Anesthesiology and General Surgery, along with three students (5%) in Ophthalmology and two each (3%) in Orthopaedic Surgery, Psychiatry and Surgery-Preliminary. One student (2%) each will train in: Dermatology, Medicine-Preliminary, Neurology, Pathology, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Transitional Year, Urology, and Vascular Surgery.
  • Twenty-four students (38%) will be training in Primary Care specialties. If Obstetrics/Gynecology matches (five students) were included in the figure, it would rise to 45%.
  • Eleven students(17%) will begin their residency training in SIU Programs. An additional fourteen students (22%) will be training in other programs located in Illinois and twenty-four others (38%) elsewhere in the Midwest. NRMP Match Results March 20, 2008: Seventy senior students at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine have secured residency positions and will begin training July 1, 2008.

  • Ten students (14.2%) will begin residency training in Family Medicine programs and another six (8.5%) each in Emergency Medicine, Obstetrics/Gynecology, Pediatrics and Radiology.  Five students (7.1%) matched in General Surgery, Internal Medicine and Orthopaedic Surgery.  Three (4.2%) in Anesthesiology, Ophthalmology, Pathology, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and Preliminary Surgery, along with two students (2.8%) in Psychiatry.  One student (1.4%) each will train in:  Medicine-Dermatology, Medicine-Pediatrics, Plastic Surgery and Urology.
  • Twenty-three students (32.8%) will be training in Primary Care specialties.  If Obstetrics/Gynecology matches (six students) were included in that figure, it would rise to 41.4%.
  • Fourteen students (20%) will begin their residency training in SIU Programs.  An additional ten students (14.2%) will be training in other programs located in Illinois and twenty-three others (32.8%) elsewhere in the Midwest.  A total of forty-seven students (67.1%) will begin residency training in the Midwest.

NRMP Match Results March 15, 2007: Sixty-seven senior students at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine have secured residency positions and will begin training July 1, 2007.

  • Twelve students (18%) will begin residency training in Family Medicine programs and another eleven (16.4%) each in Emergency Medicine and Pediatrics.  Seven students (10.4%) matched in Radiology, four (6%) in Obstetrics/Gynecology and three (4.5%) each in Anesthesiology, General Surgery, Internal Medicine, Ophthalmology and Orthopaedic Surgery.  One student (1.5%) each will train in:  Child Neurology, Medicine/Pediatrics, Medicine/Psychiatry, Neurology, Pathology, Surgery/Preliminary and Urology.
  • Twenty-eight students (42%) will be training in Primary Care specialties.  If Obstetrics/Gynecology matches (four students) were included in that figure, it would rise to 48%.
  • Twelve students (18%) will begin their residency training in SIU Programs.  An additional eight students (12%) will be training in other programs located in Illinois and twenty-seven others (40%) elsewhere in the Midwest.  A total of forty-seven students (70%) will begin residency training in the Midwest.

NRMP Match Results March 16, 2006: Seventy-one senior students at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine have secured residency positions and will begin training July 1, 2006.

  • Fifteen students (21%) will begin residency training in Family Practice programs and another eleven (16%) in Internal Medicine. Nine students (13%) matched in Pediatrics, eight (11%) in Emergency Medicine, and five (7%) in General Surgery. Four students (6%) matched in Orthopaedic Surgery and three (4%) in Plastic Surgery. Two students (3%) will begin training in each of the following: Anesthesiology, Preliminary Medicine, Obstetrics/Gynecology, Ophthalmology, and Urology. One student (1%) each will train in: Dermatology, Medicine/Pediatrics, Pathology, Psychiatry, Radiology, and Preliminary Surgery.
