Internal Medicine
Residents train in ambulatory primary care at general medicine and Prairie Cardiovascular clinics under internal medicine faculty supervision.

Pathology
At Springfield Memorial Hospital, residents examine specimens and participate in weekly departmental conferences.

Pediatrics, Division of Genetics
Residents learn to manage patients with genetic risks and complications. As a level III obstetrical and pediatric referral center, SIU provides a wide variety of cases for practical teaching.

Emergency Department
Residents rotate in the emergency department under emergency medicine faculty supervision.

Psychosexual Counseling
The Department of Psychiatry provides this training in a seminar every two years and on a consultation basis.

Ethics and Medical Jurisprudence
The Department of Medical Humanities leads seminars every two years.

Reproductive Health Care Training
Reproductive healthcare training is provided by a team of faculty at Planned Parenthood of Illinois. 

Breast Clinic
Residents attend a half-day clinic each week with the SIU Department of Surgery at Simmons Cancer Institute at SIU.

Rural Medicine
Residents rotate with faculty in Jacksonville and at Decatur Memorial Hospital, gaining experience in caring for rural and underserved populations.
