SIU Medicine Launches New COVID-19 Testing Site for the Fall

After Labor Day, SIU Medicine will launch a new testing site at Abundant Faith Christian Center and other sites to meet COVID-19 response needs throughout the community. The final day for SIU Medicine testing at the Sangamon County Department of Public will be today, Sept. 4.
 
“We are so grateful for our partnership with Sangamon County Department of Public Health to provide testing throughout the last two months,” said Jerry Kruse, MD, MSPH, Dean and Provost of SIU School of Medicine. “As the seasons change and we prepare for colder temperatures, we are pleased to be moving the testing center to Abundant Faith Christian Center to continue to serve this critical health care mission in Springfield.”
 
Testing will begin on Tuesday, September 8 at Abundant Faith Christian Center, 2525 Taylor Ave, Springfield. After the Labor Day holiday, testing will resume on Mondays. The testing site is closed on Wednesdays. 
  • Mondays: 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.
  • Tuesdays: 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.
  • Thursdays: 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.
On Fridays, SIU Medicine will be a mobile testing operation hosted by other area congregations. September locations include:
  • September 11: 9:00 – 12:00 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, 2208 E. Kansas St.
  • September 18: 9:00 – 12:00 p.m. at Union Baptist Church, 1405 E. Monroe St.
  • September 25: 9:00 – 12:00 p.m. at Progressive Church of God in Christ, 1625 E. Ash St.
Before heading out for a test, please wait at least four days from a possible exposure to get the most accurate test result and quarantine at home until a result has been given.
