    About me

    Dr. Stephanie van Ulft, a graduate of the University of Missouri School of Medicine, completed her psychiatry residency at Washington University in St. Louis in 1990.  Since residency, she has worked in private practice in St. Louis County, developed a nursing-home based practice for the Metro St. Louis area, managed her own corporation of long-term care providers, served as medical director of Heartland Human Services (a community mental health center in Effingham, IL), acted as medical director at St. Mary’s Hospital (Centralia, IL) and joined the faculty of SIU-School of Medicine in January, 2016.  She is board-certified in both adult & geriatric psychiatry with particular interest in treating patients with Alzheimer’s Disease & Parkinson’s Disease.  Dr. van Ulft is an active community speaker on a variety of mental health topics and also enjoys frequent radio & television appearances as an educator and advocate for the mentally ill.

    Dr. van Ulft is located at Decatur Memorial Hospital (Decatur, IL) on the Senior Behavioral Health Unit as part of collaboration between SIU School of Medicine and Decatur Memorial Hospital.
