    About me

    Ahmed Abbas, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Neurology at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. He specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of Multiple Sclerosis and other Central Nervous System Neuroimmunologic Diseases, including Neuromyelitis Optica Spectrum Disorder (NMOSD), Myelin Oligodendrocyte Glycoprotein Antibody-associated Disease (MOGAD), Transverse Myelitis, Optic Neuritis, Autoimmune Encephalitis, Neurosarcoidosis, and CNS Vasculitis.

    He earned a medical degree from the University of Baghdad College of Medicine in Iraq and completed a residency in Neurology at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in 2022. He then completed fellowship training in Multiple Sclerosis/Neuroimmunology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in 2023.

    Dr. Abbas received multiple academic excellence awards and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society in 2022. He is also the recipient of the prestigious Multiple Sclerosis Clinical Care Fellowship Grant from the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. He is board-certified in Neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and is a member of the American Academy of Neurology and the American Neurological Association.

    Dr. Abbas has a special interest in medical education and comprehensive individualized care for people with Multiple Sclerosis and other CNS Neuroimmunologic Diseases. He is passionate about helping his patients live their best lives despite having these conditions.
