Department of Surgery Annual Teaching Awards 2019

The SIU School of Medicine Department of Surgery Annual Teaching Awards were presented on August 8, 2019.
The awards are held to recognize the entire Department of Surgery faculty and are from General Surgery, Urology, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Vascular Surgery, and Neurosurgery.
Award recipients are chosen based upon the evaluations submitted by the residents about the faculty and are based on the numbers but more importantly, on the comments made by the residents.

The Division of Orthopedic Surgery would like to congratulate:

Resident Teaching: SIU Faculty Teacher of the Year: Gordon Allan, MD
"Brought back a culture and atmosphere in the program that has been missing for some time"
"In spite of a complex caseload, is able to tailor operative experience to the PGY and resident skill set. Has been a surgical educator for almost 30 years and it shows.
This rotation really made a big difference for me in how I approached my responsibilities as a resident."
