Medical Student Education & Opportunities

Medical student education is very important to the Department of Family & Community Medicine. Faculty in our department provide training to medical students throughout the four years of medical school as teachers, tutors, mentors, preceptors, resource faculty, unit directors, advisors and much more.

They are involved in many facets of the curriculum through their membership and work with committees such as the Educational Policy Council, Admissions Committee, Years One through Four Curriculum Committees, and the Senior Clinical Competency Exam Committee. The Department is also the lead department for the Population Health and Prevention Longitudinal Curriculum. Our department utilizes the core medical student faculty, as well as faculty from our four residency programs, to deliver the Family Medicine Clerkship and participate in the training and evaluation of clerkship. The department sponsors four student interest groups that focus on careers in Family Medicine and in community engagement and outreach.
