- Call system emphasizes the initial assessment and management of medical problems through a longitudinal emergency medicine experience.
- Taken from home and is done with an intern
- During the week call is 5pm-6am
- During the weekend call is 6am-6am
- Call done average every 11th night
- Total average 5 call days a month
- Answer hours telephone triage responsibility
- Clinic is four half-days a week at SIU Quincy Family Practice
- Senior residents work with medical students and PA students in the clinic
- Third year residents have the ability to do an away rotation
- The third-year rotations are a mix of required rotations and elective
- 2 blocks on the Family Practice inpatient service
- 2 two-week blocks Ophthalmology
- 1 block Orthopedics
- 1 block Dermatology
- 1 block Neurology
- 5.5 blocks of total elective time over the three years
- We exceed required numbers of patient encounters
