The SIU Department of Family & Community Medicine is proud to maintain an active research program in all its residency locations. While there are some staff involved in the acquisition of new knowledge (sometimes referred to as T1 research) the majority are involved in translational research (T2). That is, they seek to translate new methods, technologies and guidelines developed from basic research into practical healthcare practice. This dissemination of new knowledge into practice encompasses a host of specialties such as clinical skills, public and population health, behavioral interventions and statistics. We are excited as a Department to be involved in both cutting edge research and improving the healthcare and health outcomes of the populations we serve.
