Registration is open! The Institute for Plastic Surgery at SIU School of Medicine is pleased to announce the 28th Annual Wound Care Symposium. This year’s event will once again be held in-person at the IEA Professional Development Center located at 3440 Liberty Drive, Springfield, Illinois from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Registration includes, breakfast refreshments, a boxed lunch, and an event T-shirt.

  • Wounds following trauma
  • Vascular disease management
  • Wound dressing techniques
  • Wound ostomy
  • Hyberbaric oxygen therapy


This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education through the joint providership of Southern Illinois University School of Medicine and Memorial Health. American Academy of Nurse Practitioners National Certification Board (AANPCB) accepts AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ issued by organizations accredited by the ACCME as an equivalent number of hours of participation.

SIU School of Medicine is preapproved as a continuing nursing education provider pursuant to Section 1300.130, subsection c), 1), B) and P) of the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation Nurse Practice Act. Nurses may receive a maximum of 4.25 contact hours for completing this activity.

SIU School of Medicine is a licensed provider for continuing education for nursing home administrators (license #139.000027), dietitians/nutrition counselors (license#199.000121). This program offers a maximum of 4.25 CE hours.

Memorial Health is approved as a sponsor by the Illinois Department of Professional Regulation to award 4.25 contact hours for: Physical Therapy and PT Assistant- License #216.000136; Occupational Therapy and OT Assistant – License #224.000110.
