NeuroEssentials: Enhancing Neurological Perspectives for Primary Care Providers Symposium
This symposium will address the recognition and management of common neurological problems for primary care providers and other non-neurologists. Participants will also learn how to conduct a neurological examination, determine the appropriate investigations to order and the significance of abnormal findings, and identify the need for referral to a neurologist.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:
• Demonstrate the technique of neurological examination.
• List strategies to diagnose and manage common neurological conditions including headache, epilepsy, movement disorders, stroke, neuropathy, cognitive disorders, multiple sclerosis and pain.
• Explain the indications and utility of EEG, EMG and neuroimaging studies.
• Discuss the approach to palliative care for patients with neurological conditions.
