Faazal Rehman, VMD
About me
Dr. Faazal Rehman serves as the Director and Attending Veterinarian of the Division of Laboratory Animal Medicine (DLAM) at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. In this role, he oversees all aspects of the animal care and use program, including regulatory compliance, veterinary clinical services, facility operations, and strategic program development.
Dr. Rehman earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (VMD) degree from the University of Pennsylvania and completed a three-year ACLAM-recognized residency in Laboratory Animal Medicine at the University of Chicago. His professional interests include aquatic animal medicine, biomedical research support, and programmatic refinement of animal care systems to promote scientific reproducibility, staff safety, and animal welfare. At SIU School of Medicine, Dr. Rehman’s efforts focus on advancing the university’s research infrastructure and aligning the animal care program with federal standards and AAALAC accreditation requirements.
